Mission

Game made within a semester long game jam through the Texas A&M Game Developers organization. Theme of the jam is “Stuck Together”. Working in a team of 5 where I was in charge of project management and programming as well as assisting with concept and game development. Mission is a 3D game using the Unity engine where you explore a Spanish mission and glimpse into the past to figure out why a vengeful ghost just won’t leave you alone.

Project Post Mortem

What would you do if you had more time?

I would have liked to put some more time into asset creation and polishing the experience. The environment feels extremely empty & could have benefited from some more intensive set dressing. A lot of elements such as the voice acting were only implemented at the very end & I feel like it would have been mote successful if they had more thought & polish put into them.

What would you do differently next time?

I think this project had a lot of opportunities for improvement. Next time I think with a game to narrative-heavy, it would be important to add a subtitle feature. A lot of people had troubles with hearing the dialog, which is something that subtitles could have helped with. In general I think the UI should have been better thought out at the beginnings of the project. In the future I want to work with Unreal, as I’ve heard it is a good tool for 3D projects.

What did you learn?

I learned a lot about implementing assets into Unity & various lighting settings to make your game look its best. I spent a lot of time experimenting with the lighting in order to give various moods & aesthetics. We had a few group dynamic issues in which we all learned how to better work with others & express our ideas in a constructive manner.
